GenesisFour SuperShop
At GenesisFour we have the privilege of being in regular
contact with hundreds of service facilities all over the United
States. We are initiating the "SuperShop" section on our website
where we showcase a service facility we believe to be
particularly outstanding. Gurney's Automotive is a shining
example of an independently-owned repair business that embraces
a unique, personalized approach to vehicle repair. Here is
Bill's story:
Four years ago Bill Gurney needed to expand. He had an
extremely profitable repair shop in Nashua, New Hampshire, which he
credits at least in part to his intense, highly-focused use of
his GenesisFour shop management system. Negotiations to purchase
his existing property fell through, and he wound up buying and
building from scratch at another property nearby.
The new shop is truly a show-stopper. Over his many years in
the repair business, Bill had come across just about every
conceivable good idea, and he implemented just about all of
them. When it comes to innovative thinking with regard to repair
shop design and layout, he didn't miss a trick.
The waiting room has fresh Green Mountain coffee, bowls of
fresh fruit, a TV, an enclosed, fully-equipped playroom, and a
separate WI-FI hotspot workspace complete with counters for his
customers' laptops. The custom-built, angled service desks have
built in flat panel displays. Each advisor has a cash drawer.
The wall behind the advisors has built in shelves for service
orders in progress and 20 feet of framed certifications of the
staff. A red lamp in the shop can be illuminated from behind the
service counter to tell the shop manager a new job has arrived
and the customer is waiting. There are separate rest rooms by
gender. The Ladies room has a baby changing table. There is a
beautiful night-drop box built into the entranceway. The shop
had 10 bays for his 10 technicians, each with their own
workstation running Service2000. The overhead lubrication system
can be reached from every bay. There is a 3-man,
motion-activated wash basin in the shop. There is a
gorgeous, full-finished technician lunchroom. There are
beautifully-finished management and owners offices on the second
floor. An IT office upstairs is dedicated to computer assembly
and testing. The parts department layout is unbeatable.
Fluids are stored in a separate room in the rear, which is lower
than shop floor grade in case of a leak. The shop has the best
flagpole in all of New Hampshire. Need we say more? Have a look
for yourself.
Bill enjoys talking to other shop owners (especially
GenesisFour enthusiasts). If you would like to speak to him
about anything he's done at his shop, or about how he uses
Service2000, his contact information can be found at
